Ivory Smith is a Seat­­tle-based com­poser, per­former, pro­ducer and teacher. She has act­ed as band leader, musi­cal direc­tor, or co-direc­tor for sev­eral acclaimed projects — includ­ing Foot in Mouth, Lin­go Pro­duc­tions, and Ivory in Ice World. Her work has been show­cased at Bum­ber­shoot, PICA’s TBA Fes­ti­val, On The Boards, A Con­tem­po­rary The­atre, The Show­box, Chop Suey, among many oth­er region­al venues. She grew up study­ing piano, attend­ed Cor­nish Col­lege of the Arts where she stud­ied voice and com­po­si­tion, and sub­se­quent­ly grad­u­at­ed from Ever­green State Col­lege with a BA in Audio Engi­neer­ing and Non-Prof­it Busi­ness Man­age­ment. The breadth of her pro­fes­sional work is far reach­ing — from opera and jazz to build­ing and pro­gram­ming her own elec­tronic instru­ments. In 2011 she worked with Keep­ing the Faith and the women of Mis­sion Creek Cor­rec­tions Cen­ter to cre­ate a score for an evening length piece. Ivory also worked for Town Hall Seat­tle and dozens of oth­er local not for prof­it music, lit­er­ary, and polit­i­cal orga­ni­za­tions as an event coor­di­na­tor and facil­i­ties man­ag­er. Addi­tion­al­ly, Ivory is an accom­plished the­ory tutor and voice/piano teacher, with many years of expe­ri­ence in both pri­vate and group settings.
